1.
The Show Is Over The bartender's been tipped The money bag's been zipped All the beers that will be spilled are already on the floor - The drunks have paid their tabs The cables have been wrapped Those who danced are smoking now outside the door Pack away the microphones The lonely have gone home alone The spotlight has no more shadows to throw, it's time to go *Cause the show is over and what do we have to show? We're still living on four wheels with nowhere to go.* I can't help but think you've had too much to drink - And I've only sung half of what I should've said Let's get out of the way Let the brooms sweep away the day And see if some kind stranger has an extra bed. . . Pack away the microphones The lonely have gone home alone The spotlight has no more shadows to throw, it's time to go *Cause the show is over and what do we have to show? We're still living on four wheels with nowhere to go.*

The Inside Story We were riding in a van - no, it must have been a spaceship - Cause we were surrounded by aliens and you said it seemed like anti-gravity We were floating! - Cell phones and sunglasses floating - our words printed on the air! - Electricity in our hands and hair *You are the only one who remembers - I couldn't tell the inside story to anybody else We shared this crazy experience together - A page in the book on our library shelf* We were walking down the street - no, it must have been a war zone - They were shooting the bloody sunset and there was so much noise - silence just stared. Our hearts were ringing with danger - the beggars had bulletproof guitars - and the whole place was on fire - and everyone had water hoarded in their cars! (I remember, do you?. . . ) *You are the only one who remembers - I couldn't tell the inside story to anybody else We shared this crazy experience together - A page in the book on our library shelf*
3.
The Family Tree My family is like a factory of tragedy cranking out disaster like a well-oiled machine Broken and scattered - secrecy and factions - actions and reactions - water's thicker than our genes *But those we've lost - we grieve and remember - we remember forever Those we've lost - we've lost them together - we've lost them together - so we never grieve alone* We may not have much in common - a name or blood or paperwork saying once we did agree Our ancestors came from all across the ocean - patterns of our speech and motions spiral up the family tree. Our history has already been lived and we pass it to our kids like a dish at the table How do we take up these broken limbs and glue them on again while we're still alive and able? *Cause those we've lost - we grieve and remember - we remember forever Those we've lost - we've lost them together - we've lost them together - so we never grieve alone - Those we've gained are not always our volition - still they take up their position around the fireplace - Those we've gained - we embrace and we celebrate - we speak only to congratulate – and give the benefit of grace. . . *
4.
Stretch My Love You and your multitude of sins - I'm trying to stretch my love to cover it - I'm trying to stretch my love like it's my very last dime - I'm trying to stretch my love like this is the last time *My Love --------/ My Love ---------* You and your multitude of lies - I'm trying to still believe my loving eyes - I'm trying to still believe it's getting better all the time I'm trying to stretch my love like this is the last time *My Love --------/ My Love ----------* You and your multitude of words - The kindest, most confusing sounds I've ever heard - I'm trying to let them soak into my skin - I'm calling off the dogs to let my love back in *My Love! --------/ My Love! ----------*
5.
I Will Make My Nest High Up I've traveled far to get a view Of the atmosphere between me and you The truth revolves - a faithful moon - around everything I thought I knew. I'm wearing all my mysteries. I am afraid of what can grow in secret places And I am bold enough to turn my corners inside out I'm publishing my history *I will make my nest high up - above this world of lies - I will try - I will try - to rise above the trouble of my life - And bring everything into the light* I do not want your polished smile and all your answers - I want your heart - each bloody part - each raw disaster - The truth is all that's left of me There is a world which wears this world as a disguise Each and every body is a costume for a spirit Will you or won't you be surprised - when you see the truth and that you were always near it? Listen, it's so close that you can hear it. . .
6.
The Innkeeper The ghosts of innocence stalk the hallways singing with tambourines - There's a pretty senorita trying to scrub the bathtub clean - There's a child with no birthday, there's a wedding with no vow - There's a room for every stranger who's as strange as I am now *My mind is like a maid - always cleaning up after filthy guests My heart's a hotel where these weary, worried, wandering thoughts can rest and I'm the innkeeper, trying to pass the white glove test - I'm the Innkeeper* Take a seat inside my kitchen where I feed my hungry dreams - Every aching stone is covered with the moss of memory - I keep washing the same window but I cannot change the scene Someone's knocking - someone's always knocking! - Please let me be! You can blame the leaky ceiling - You can blame the economy - But in the business of lately I've had lots of vacancy.
7.
Workaholics Lullaby This whirlwind of a morning is spinning me around - If you see my mind, tell me where it can be found I'm eating my money, hungrier still - Praying that soon my belly will be filled - Be still my soul *Grinding up the hours like a hungry machine - Each productive day I'm feeling less like a human being Give me just a moment to remember to breathe - Give me a song to sing my ambition to sleep* I'm taking up breathing - practicing right now - I'm getting the feeling I need to get away somehow - I have been choking on all I've bitten off to chew - And I am sorry for taking it out on you Be still my soul - Be still my soul I've mastered the multi-tasker's juggling trick - At the same time I can hear, taste, smell, touch, see and click - Never mind the fact that it is making me sick - Meanwhile the earth is spinning so quick Be still my soul - Be still my soul (Slow me to the pace of the healing rhythm - Slow me to the pace of the natural world)
8.
The Bridge Where Our Worlds Meet For those who would have loved this song I'll sing especially sweet - Perchance your ears might stray across the bridge where our worlds meet - Or perchance this song might go beyond the path of living feet *On the bridge where our worlds meet - The water's dark, the chasm is deep Neither life nor death seem complete on the bridge where our worlds meet* For those who would have sang along and memorized every word - I'll wear your love and courage like the feathers of a bird - Though I can't fly to where you are I'll hope my song is heard On the bridge where our worlds meet . . . For you whose love was strong enough to echo long beyond death - I'll be the canyon for your voice until my dying breath - When you sing "Hallelujah", I will sing"amen" - "Amen". .

about

This is the solo debut from the lead singer and songstress of The Ragbirds and it is a real departure from the percussive upbeat sound of Zindle's heavily touring band. It's an 8-song journal of a feathered traveler. The songs are private moments scooped up with two small hands and spread out in layers of strings, voices, piano and words. Zindle, who is known for her creative energy and endless smiles, has taken the listener into a smaller quieter world where pain slips through the cracks and the raw edges are left to show. The songs speak of strange experiences, loss, internal wrestling, forgiveness, family, nature and despair. With the exception of a guest bassoon and bagpiper all the instruments are performed by Erin herself. “Scenes From The Fragile Agile Avian World” is full of imagery and feminine musical textures without drums, bass and guitar.

As Rumi said: “The bird’s favorite songs you do not hear, for their most flamboyant music takes place when their wings are stretched above the trees and they are smoking the opium of pure freedom.”

The download includes bonus materials, including a "coloring book" version of the album cover. (Erin's original black and white sketch), and a PDF of the lyric booklet. Lyrics are also embedded in the songs.
